Compulsory Bike Training (CBT)
Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) was introduced on the Island in September 2003.
It is compulsory course that must be taken prior to having bike lessons towards passing your test and to ride on the road unsupervised if you have your own machine.
You must be able to show a certain level of machine knowledge and control, highway code knowledge and road awareness to pass.
There is no set time limit as to how long this takes, and we charge an hourly rate not a set price.
We can supply a bike at no extra cost, however you must supply your own riding equipment (helmet, gloves, jacket etc), as it is not practical for us to have these, everyone has a different size head for instance, and as safety is of paramount importance it is advisable to get a good fitting helmet that suits you, after all you will need one longterm !!
You can use your own bike / scooter if you wish, we offer a collection service if you have a problem transporting your bike to the training site, please ensure you have all necessary insurance documents etc, L-plates front and rear and a full tank of fuel (and 2-stroke oil if applicable). We will also need to see your driving licence.
Where is it held?
CBT training is held at Port Soderick just outside Douglas, and this is done 7 days a week so finding time shouldn't be a problem.
A basic knowledge of the highway code is needed prior to the CBT
Rain suits will be provided for bad weather conditions
£50 deposit required
Please note CBT certificate is only valid for 2 years
